What is Ivy Global Junior?

Ivy Global Junior is an enrichment program based upon Canadian grade 3-7 curricula. Our program is designed to help students develop and improve upon their skills in mathematics and English. The program emphasizes teaching lifetime learning strategies to help your child succeed on both specific skill sets and throughout their learning careers. Because our teachers are hand picked from top universities, and are successful learners themselves, they help model effective learning and study strategies, while providing a nurturing environment in which your child can succeed and grow.

What material is covered in class?

Ivy Global Junior is designed to enrich and supplement the Canadian primary school curriculum.

In the English program, students read classic children’s books at their grade level and are encouraged to read independently. Vocabulary is linked to reading assignments to ensure that students build their vocabularies in a meaningful way. Writing assignments encourage critical thinking and help students prepare for class discussion to ensure that students excel in reading, writing, and speaking. Students are guided through all aspects of writing, from word choice, to sentence construction, to forming paragraphs with the goal of developing sound argumentative essays. Students are encouraged continually to refine their thoughts and treat writing as a process that begins with thinking. Students are also provided with tailored supplemental instruction in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

The math program is designed to cover all critical math skills outlined by the Canadian primary school curriculum. Students are assessed regularly to monitor their progress through these essential skill sets. Small class sizes provide many opportunities for personal attention, ensuring that students get the practice they need. Students are always encouraged to take advantage of opportunities to explore creative problem solving as well as other more advanced concepts.

How big are the classes?

Classes are capped when the student to teacher ratio reaches 12:1, but typically classes are much smaller.

How will I know if my child is progressing in the program?

Our program utilizes weekly computer-based assessments and the results are e-mailed to you immediately. Homework and study activities are posted online and are accessible to both parents and students. Informing you of your child’s progress is a key component of our program because we believe that well informed parents help form stronger learners. Ivy Global Junior provides students with a map to help them navigate through various skill sets, and providesparents with an online GPS for charting their child’s progress.

Who are your teachers?

Our teachers are hand picked from top universities and graduated at the top of their classes. They exhibit qualities of high academic achievement and passion for learning which enables them to be academic role models for their students.

What is the cost of the program?

Tuition is $130 per month plus HST. Students who choose to purchase books for the English program may spend an additional $10-20 per month (although many of the books used for the program are readily available at public and school libraries.)
